Porsche Slovenija’s Business Challenge

Following its migration from Atlassian Data Center to Jira Cloud, Porsche Slovenija needed a scalable way to manage authentication and provisioning for nearly 500 external customers accessing its Jira Service Management portal.

Securing and Automating External Customer Access After Migrating to Jira Cloud

The organization relied on a Custom Active Directory (AD) using OAuth/OIDC and required a solution that could:

  • Provide a secure Single Sign-On (SSO) experience for external customers using OIDC with their existing Custom Active Directory
  • Reduce the manual effort involved in onboarding and managing customer access
  • Ensure customers only accessed the portals relevant to them
  • Maintain accurate customer information and group assignments during synchronization
  • Deliver a fully branded login experience using a custom domain
  • Support status-based filtering and customer visibility controls to better manage portal users

Atlassian Cloud did not natively support this combination of requirements, particularly OIDC-based customer SSO alongside REST API-driven provisioning from a Custom AD.

Using the SAML/OAuth SSO for JSM Customers app, miniOrange integrated Jira Service Management with Porsche Slovenija’s Custom AD using OAuth/OIDC.

Key capabilities included:

  • User and Group Provisioning: Automatically synchronizing users and groups from Custom AD into Jira Cloud.
  • Custom Attribute Mapping: Mapping customer-specific attributes from AD to Jira during provisioning to maintain accurate user data.
  • Customer-to-Portal Mapping: Automatically assigning customers to the appropriate Jira Service Management portals based on specific directory attribute values.

This automation significantly reduced administrative effort while improving access accuracy and consistency.
