Add OU to Active Directory


Create a New Organizational Unit in AD:

To add a new Organizational Unit:

  • Navigate to Object Management > OU Management.
  • Click on the Add OU button.

  • In the Create New OU form, fill in the following fields:
  • Select Container: Click Select OU to choose the parent container where the new OU will be created.

  • Select the container from the Active Directory Explorer.
  • Once the container is selected, click on the Save button.

  • In the Create New OU form, fill in the following fields:
  • Name: Enter the name for the new OU.
  • Description: Add a brief description for identification.
  • Assigned Manager: Select a user to be assigned as the OU manager.
  • Click on the Select User button to assign a user as manager.

  • In the Active Directory Explorer select a user to assign as manager for the OU.
  • Once done with the user selection, click on the Save button.

  • Protect from Accidental Deletion: Check this box to safeguard the OU from accidental removal.
  • Click Save Details to create the new OU in Active Directory.

Note:

  1. Always select the correct OU container before creation.
  2. Avoid using special characters in OU names to maintain compatibility.
  3. Assign a manager for administrative accountability and easier delegation.
